STEPHANIE

Stephanie | Coach, trainer and behaviour change specialist | Director of Women who dont drink | Treading lightly on the earth as much as possible

PLEASE TELL US A BIT ABOUT WHAT YOU DO / YOUR PROJECT / BUSINESS OR SUBJECT CLOSE TO YOUR HEART RELATED TO THAT.

Nearly 18 years ago, I was arrested for an alcohol related offence. All the cliches in the book. The day before Christmas eve, with my kids at home alone. Yep not one of my finest parenting moments. One of the worst days of my life, turned out to be one of my best. Being in custody, gave me the time to go from anger, to victim, to taking full responsibility of my actions. I vowed to sort my life out, no mean feat. It was a mess, well some good, some really shit. A lot created by my chaos.

Through this experience I became passionate about supporting women to change their relationship with alcohol.  Making the support accessible, affordable and great quality.

1) THE BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

I bought a piece of land, which has been a life long dream of mine.

2) THE WORST THING THAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS?

I dont think there have been any bad things in the last 12 months, my life is pretty easy, by design.

3) YOUR BIGGEST WISH FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

To get some funding for Women who dont drink so we can expand the amazing work we do.

4) YOUR BIGGEST WORRY FOR THE NEAR FUTURE?

I dont really worry about things.

5) A CONTEMPORARY WOMEN YOU CURRENTLY ADMIRE?

I love the women that work with us, they just want their life to be different, better.

They are honest and willing to learn.

We have an amazing team of volunteers that have been with the organisation for years, they love to give their time, knowledge and support to new women.

6) A SHORT MESSAGE TO OTHER WOMEN?

This is your life, you get to choose how you live it.

THE WORLD KEEPS CHANGING DRAMATICALLY:

I dont think it is changing dramatically.

7) HOW ARE YOU COPING?

I love my life, life is what you make it.

8) WHICH RECENT CHANGE/ EVENT HAS AFFECTED YOU THE MOST / HAD THE BIGGEST IMPACT ON YOU PERSONALLY?

Its not recent, but the thing that has and still continues to have the biggest impact on me is not drinking alcohol, seriously its a game changer.

Also my relationships with other humans, we are not islands, the support I get from other people is amazing.
